Group Therapy Training Level 1

Group Therapy is known to be a powerful and effective medium to help clients gain personal insight and growth. This course is designed for individuals who want to develop an in-depth understanding of group dynamics, along with the requisite skills needed to facilitate a therapeutic group.

 

Learning will be both didactic and experiential, highlighting both the science and art of therapeutic work within a group context. Group members will participate in, and learn the skill of applying, expressive modalities such as art directives, picture association, psychodrama techniques, affect regulation and meditation.

About the Presenter(s)

Joan B. Kristall, LCSW-C, earned a master’s degree in social work at the University of Denver and received a certificate in trauma treatment from the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education in Baltimore, MD. Prior to her recent aliyah, she was Clinical Coordinator for the Shofar Coalition, a collaborative community program for survivors of childhood trauma. Currently she leads the Certificate Program in Group Therapy Training at the Family Institute and maintains a private practice in Jerusalem and Efrat.
