My Approach to Therapy
Using care, sensitivity, and empathic challenges to growth, I strive to help my clients understand their selves, their predicaments, and how they can best alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, and unprocessed anger. The foundation of my work, whether with with couples, with families, or with individuals - child, adilescent, and aduly - is a merger of psychodynamic, family systems, and cognitive behavioral theories and interventions. In addition, I engage the emotional experiences of clients using experiential modalities for which I have received certification, including Emotional Focused Therapy for couples (EFT trained therapist), and Internal Family Systems and AEDP for individuals (IFS Level 2 therapist and AEDP Level 1 therapist) through a variety of modalities in which I am certified. At all times, I strive to help clients to connect with their emotional experience, widen their understanding in a way that enables them to deal with their demons with greater ease and success, and find the inner calm that comes from the emergence of self-empowerment and self leadership. With couples and families and in parenting work, I seek to provide a safe holding space in which insight and mutual healing can emerge and facilitate the flourishing of relationships.
My Background
Before becoming a therapist, I was fortunate to learn for 12 years in yeshiva, receive Semicha from the Rabbanut, and serve as a rebbi to adolescents and emerging adults. After receiving my Masters in Social Work, I dedicated several years to postgraduate internships to increase my competency as a therapist. In these years, engaged in specialized programs for working with couples, children, and families, as well as programs through which I gained training in working with adults and children using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Short Term Psychodynamic Therapy, and Experiential therapies, such as IFS, EFT, and AEDP. In these postgraduate trainings, I garnered over 1,000 hours of experience, guided by expert supervision, much of which surrounded review of videotapes of my work viewed and critiqued by these experts and at times by colleagues. I worked in Hadassah Hospital’s Outpatient Unit as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist treating clients suffering from a range of challenges, including PTSD, Depression, OCD, Anxiety Disorders, and ADHD. At Hadassah, I worked closely with my clients’ psychiatrists on our Outpatient Unit, and I learned the importance of appropriate collaboration of professionals who can work together to provide the best help possible for the client. In addition to my private practice in Yerushalayim, I work with individuals, couples, and families at the Emuna Family Therapy Center of Beit Shemesh, and I serve as a Couples Therapist for a a specially funded and multidimensional program in Kiryat Sefer named Tochnit Aviv.
