What is The Family Institute of Neve Yerushalayim?

The Family Institute of Neve Yerushalayim is an advanced post-graduate family therapy training center for religious therapists, as well as a counseling center serving the needs of the religious communities of greater Jerusalem.

Who can apply for training at The Family Institute?

The Family Institute is primarily a post-graduate training facility for individuals who have completed at least a Master’s level graduate degree in a mental health field, with a minimum of two years supervised clinical experience.

Why does one need post-graduate training after a Master’s or Doctoral Degree?

A university education is an absolute necessity for the development of a mental health professional. It is how one attains the essential knowledge base for practice. Nevertheless, most successful professionals go on to train in a post-graduate facility such as The Family Institute, because competence as a therapist requires advanced training with the support and guidance of excellent supervisors and an intense focus on the development of advanced clinical skills.

Is The Family Institute better than private supervision?

Any supervision with a competent clinical supervisor is beneficial. The training programs at The Family Institute, however, offer more supervision for a far lower cost than private supervision. In addition, trainees receive weekly group and live supervision, and are able to enhance and develop their clinical skills and theoretical knowledge within a particularly supportive therapeutic environment. Excellent supervisors in a warm supportive atmosphere, professional development seminars, and important collegial networking bonds make training at The Family Institute an incomparable experience.

What if I have a special interest in working with couples, children, or adolescents?

The Institute maintains several special treatment and training units. These units include specialized training to work with children, adolescents, trauma, couples, groups and survivors of sexual abuse.
