Our clinical staff generally consists of therapists with a Master’s degree in a field of mental health (such as Social Work, Psychology etc.). Therapists work under the supervision of highly qualified and seasoned clinical supervisors within the framework of advanced postgraduate training.
Therapists at The Family Institute’s clinic are Torah observant and are committed to providing the highest standard of confidential and professional counseling services.
How much does therapy cost?
We believe that help should be available to all. The subsidized fee at The Family Institute is 100 NIS per session. A sliding scale is available in certain circumstances.
We also offer additional services by experienced staff therapists for 200 NIS per session.
How do I request an extra fee reduction?
What about confidentiality?
Will I need a referral from a health care professional or agency?
Do you offer therapy in my language?
We currently offer counseling services in English and Hebrew. At times, French, Russian and Yiddish speaking therapists are available. Please call the office to check.
How do I request therapy?
If you are interested in counseling services, contact our main office at 02-654-4600 (Sunday to Thursday 9:00 – 14:00). Members of our Intake staff are specially trained to receive calls and take information in a professional and sensitive manner.
After you have given preliminary details about your request for counseling, along with basic personal information (name, age, address, etc.), one of The Family Institute’s therapists will contact you to schedule a first appointment.
How do I figure out what type of therapy is appropriate for myself/my family?
When you first call us, our intake coordinator will discuss the most appropriate options with you.
Additionally, the initial meetings between you and your therapist can be used to assess and discuss how best to approach your specific issues, and to form a treatment plan.
How long will it take for therapy to begin?
Ordinarily, once our Intake office has returned your call, you should expect to receive a call from your therapist within one week.
Do you work under rabbinic supervision?
What training programs do you offer?
Our core program is called the Family Therapy Training Program, which we offer in English or Hebrew.

Why does one need post-graduate training after a Master's degree?
A university education is an absolute necessity for the development of a mental health professional. It is how one attains the essential knowledge base for practice. Nevertheless, most successful professionals go on to train in a post-graduate facility such as The Family Institute, because competence as a therapist requires advanced training with the support and guidance of excellent supervisors and an intense focus on the development of advanced clinical skills.
What does it mean that you are recognized by the Aguda?
The Family Institute received formal recognition of the Israel Association of Couples and Family Therapy (also known as the “Aguda”) as a Class A training program.
This means that all training in the program is accredited towards achieving recognition of the Association as an accredited family therapist.
The Family Institute is committed to providing continued opportunities for treatment and supervision for trainees wishing to fulfill the hours required by the Association.
What is the class and supervision schedule?
Classes for the English program (including the MASA track) are held on Mondays.
Classes for the Hebrew program are held on Thursdays.
Individual and group supervision are held on different days of the week.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The Family Therapy Training Program takes a minimum of two years to complete. The following must be met in order to be a candidate for graduation:
Completion of all courses and coursework in the two-year program
68 hours of individual supervision*
120 hours of group supervision*
20 hours of live/recorded sessions

What are the strengths of your program?
The strength of The Family Institute’s program is that we offer a multifaceted approach to professional development. The program’s versatility in both English and Hebrew enables a diverse range of therapists to learn comfortably. Trainees receive weekly group and individual supervision, and are able to enhance and develop their clinical skills and theoretical knowledge within a particularly supportive therapeutic environment.
The inclusion of live observations and specialized modalities enhances the depth of learning, while the utilization of state-of-the-art equipment for live observations, note-taking, and payments reflects a commitment to modern, efficient practices within the field.
These collective strengths create an enriching and effective learning environment, distinguishing the program for its comprehensive approach to professional training in family therapy.
